Abstract

Background:Marital stability is a construct in marital relationships defined as the legal continuation of a marriage within a family (absence of dissolution or divorce) over time. Aim:The present research aimed to predict marital stability based on couple's demandingness، sexual functioning، and ego strength of women in two groups: those with stable and unstable marriages in Fars province. Methodology:The present study employed a correlational and predictive research design. The statistical population of this research consisted of married women in Fars province in the year 1402 (2023-2024)، out of which 300 were selected through convenience sampling. The data collection tools included the Edwards Marital Instability Inventory، the Johnson Booth Inventory (MII)، the Couple's Demandingness questionnaire by C. S. Leni، the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI)، and the Lavertu Ego Strength questionnaire. Findings:The findings of the study indicated that couple's demandingness، sexual functioning، and ego strength significantly predicted women's group membership in the categories of stable and unstable marital relationships. Conclusion:Therefore، based on the findings of this research، the importance and impact of couple's demandingness، sexual functioning، and ego strength in predicting marital stability can be highlighted. These results may assist counselors and psychologists in addressing the influence of these factors in counseling individuals experiencing marital instability and provide necessary interventions and training in this area.
