Abstract

When among a nation, tyranny of tyrants, oppressions of oppressors and colonization of colonizers reaches the maximum, the position of freedom seekers is revealed and patriotism reaches its peak within them. They put up strong resistance for their survival and for fighting injustice and inequalities. Poets don’t remain indifferent in defending their realm. Resistance poets depict courage and resistance in their poetry. This has been the perspective of Arabic resistance poetry from past to present which has demonstrated special aspects in different periods. Aspects of resistance are important themes in Arabic and epic poetry. Some poets have stepped into that realm more than others and have appeared more brilliant than others to express it. The contemporary defiant poet " Qusim Walley" who is mentioned in this research is among the poets who expresses the current oppression in Iraq and its bitter past. He composes his poems on the current grief, hardship and pain. To save his homeland with hope for future and in line with patriotism, faith, decency of his culture and ethnicity, He expresses aspects of resistance in a beautiful and precise way and addresses the hearts. The weapon of poetry is very effective and impressive which brings all hearts together, guides them in certain direction to defend their homeland and evokes the emotions to improves the position and value of defense and resistance within them.
