Language and speech have assisted human beings to have a dynamic relationship and to establish a social structure or rather, if there were no language, humanity would not be able to establish society and communicate. Before the discovery of language, however, humans also communicated with others in various ways but, language facilitated human relationships and brought people closer to each other.
Language has an extremely wide field because it reflects the thoughts wandering on different horizons derived from the heterogeneity of human views with each other. Since the views are so diverse, Language cannot dominate or reflect all thoughts moreover, language conveys some of these thoughts formed in the human mind. This distance between point of view and speech has caused many literary critics to see the world of meaning and concept and recognize all kinds of meanings and concepts and to argue over whether thought is superior or talk. These literary conflicts with modern literary letters and theories have persisted so far and it's hard to say that have not ended yet.
The irony technique is one of the most dynamic and prominent communication tools which arises from these literary conflicts and is rooted in Greek philosophy. Irony, distinguished from other literary instruments by its variety of genres, refers to the difference between a verbal image and the view of the creator of speech. This can challenge and deceive the audience and the same trickery can provoke ridiculous speech and become a smiling pendant for creator of speech or others. Just as we can present an inconsistent and inverted image of a mental form, we can see a mocking image of a situation or dramatic image that we do not expect and seeing this image will cause us to be surprised or happy; and all of these are ironic species.
