The neighboring countries of the Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean Sea have had outstanding economic and political relations since the beginning of history. Many goods were exchanged between these areas through the Silk Road and the Spice Road. A new period in these relations began in the new centuries and after that the contemporary period, with the development of communication networks and modern means of transportation. Since the neighboring countries play an essential role in inter-regional relations, the subject of this thesis is to examine the political and economic relations between two important countries, France and Saudi Arabia, between 1945 and 1990. Therefore, the main goal of this research is to analyze the factors and components affecting the relations between the two countries and specially to explain the role and place of the Persian Gulf in these interactions. The main finding of this research, which was carried out in a descriptive-analytical way, shows that the political-economic relations between France and Saudi Arabia in the period in question were influenced by economic and geo-economic factors. In other words, economic interactions, especially in the field of oil and energy, have played an important role in the relations between France and Saudi Arabia.
