This study has investigated the effect of EDA(ethylenediamine)embedding within the pores of zeolite 13X via
pre-synthetic treatment for the purpose of gas separation from CO2 and N2 mixture.EDA-zeolite is
characterized by X-ray powder diffraction(XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR)spectrometry and CO2
adsorption isotherms. It is expected that the physisorbed excess EDA would be desorbed by rising the
temperature beyond EDA boiling point. However the results revealed that BET surface area was reduceddue
to block the pores with EDA and also the CO2 adsorption on the EDA-zeolite 13X lower than the original
zeolite 13X at the high concentration of amine because the effectively covalently bonded was created during
addition of aqueous amine solution to the zeolite 13X.It was found that if the experimentscarried out in low
concentration according to optimization ratio and anhydrous condition , could be achieved the best
correlation in contrast of previous researches.
