Abstract

In this study, the gray water of the central dining hall of the Persian Gulf University was first treated by microfiltration ceramic membrane, then the treated gray water was treated by advanced oxidation method. The purpose of this dissertation is to bring gray water COD to the allowable range for reuse in agriculture and release into the environment. In this study, ten types of ceramic membranes with different percentages of kaolin, alpha alumina and calcium carbonate were used. The dough prepared for each of the membranes after leaving the extruder was sintredd with an inner diameter of 10 mm, an outer diameter of 14 mm and a length of 25 cm to reach the desired physical strength by changing the phase. Membrane tests such as porosity, average pore size, membrane volume reduction, of all membranes and tests such as SEM, TGA, XRD and mechanical strength of two membranes - moly-calcium-carbonate (90-10) and mulith-alpha-alumina-calcium membrane Carbonate (50-45-5) was taken as two samples to ensure optimal membrane conditions were achieved. In Mulite membranes, increasing calcium-carbonate in the membranes increased porosity and permeability flux. Membrane treatment was able to reduce the COD content of Robin gray water by 63 to 79%. In advanced oxidation by the Fenton method with a constant pH of 3 and a time of 90 minutes, the amounts of hydrogen peroxide and iron were optimized for gray water with a COD of 130. Hydrogen peroxide at 500 mg / L and iron at a concentration of 750 mg / L brought the membrane-treated gray water to a COD of 40 at best.
