Abstract

In this study, the lateral buckling of pipelines on a rigid seabed under temperature and internal pressure, regardless of the effects of waves and currents, are discussed. The analytical results in some cases are compared with the numerical results obtained from ABAQUS software. Then the influence of effective parameters (such as: internal pressure, friction, initial imperfection, diameter and thickness of the pipe and pipe material) on lateral buckling of pipelines on a rigid seabed to determine the level of importance are evaluated. The most important results indicating the less possibility of lateral buckling with increasing the coefficient of friction between the pipe and seabed, reducing the internal pressure and reducing the amplitude of the initial imperfection in the pipeline. For example the safety temperature in the model with coefficient of friction equals 0.7 has increased respectively 13.6% and 50% compared to the models with coefficients of friction equal 0.5 and 0.3 and in the model with initial imperfection equals 0.1 m has increased respectively 4.49%, 15.32% and 40.65% compared to the models with initial imperfection equal 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 m. Discussion and analysis about all of the parameters are the point of this paper.
