Abstract

Background: The use of Behavioural science approaches in identifying the influencing factors on the amount of electricity consumption by the employees of Bushehr's offices and government organizations. Aim: The relatively high number of employees in Iran's government buildings and organizations, and the employees' inattention to electricity consumption due to the payment of expenses by the government caused this research with the aim of reducing the amount of electricity consumption in government buildings and organizations and approaching the optimaly consumption. Methodology: The statistical population is the government departments and organizations of Bushehr. The number of samples is Twelve organizations that were selected through systematic sampling. The research method is through the making and using of Nudges based on the behavioural economics method and measuring its efficiency through the difference in differences (DID) model. Conclusions: The second type of treatment were more effective than the first type of treatment, due to put employees in an environment where there was comparison and emulation. In the second type of policy, gender had a significant relationship with the effectiveness of policies, so that departments and organizations that had more female employees experienced a greater decrease in electricity consumption per capita. On the other hand, from a rationality point of view, perhaps the efficiency of policies was expected in government departments and organizations whose employees have higher education degrees than other departments, but as a matter of fact, it was observed that this theory is not correct. The effectiveness of the policies was also significantly related to the weather in such a way that the effectiveness of the policies decreases with the increase in temperature, and therefore the effectiveness of the policies is more in the cool seasons than in the warm seasons.
