Abstract

Background: Many adolescent problems that include anger, aggression and maladaptive behaviors (delinquent) can be attributed to the inability to manage emotion (emotional intelligence) and cognitive bias. It deals with coping styles, aggression, and attitudes toward delinquency in adolescents. Method: The present study is a quasi-experimental study with a control and control group. The statistical population is adolescent students in the second year of high school in Bushehr who had aggressive tendencies. The sample consisted of 40 people in two control groups (20 people) and The control group (n = 20) was divided to collect data using multi-stage cluster sampling method. First, the second grade schools of Bushehr city were identified and cluster sampling steps were performed. Bass and Perry aggression (1992), coping styles questionnaire, delinquency attitude questionnaire were used and 26 SPSS program was used for statistical analysis of data. Assumptions (assumptions, normality and homogeneity of variances) Multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) has been observed. Results: According to the findings of this study, it was shown that in general, the correction of cognitive bias towards aggression on coping styles, aggression and attitudes toward delinquency in adolescents is significant at the level of 0.01. Conclusion: Therefore, it can be said that the correction of cognitive biases towards aggression in adolescents affects their choice of coping styles and types of aggression as well as attitudes toward delinquency, so more importance should be given to cognitive education.
