Abstract

At the initial stage of production, the natural energy of the reservoir helps to produce the hydrocarbon. However, a small fraction of the initial hydrocarbon is often produced by this energy. Enhance oil recovery (EOR) methods play a significant role in improving oil production. Gas injection is one of the interesting EOR methods. Numerous experimental and simulation studies of the process of gas flooding were investigated by several researchers. However, an investigation of some parameters is still missing. In this study, the effect of injection gas, interfacial tension (IFT) at minimum miscibility pressure (MMP), which called IFT0 in this study, and the effect of porous media on the IFT and then on the relative permeability of gas and oil, saturation profile of gas, and fractional flow of gas was studied. Based on our results, different gas resulted in different MMP. Different gases at different injection pressures affected the relative permeability, fractional flow, and gas saturation profile. Based on injection pressure and for different gases, IFT0 could affect the aforementioned curves. Porous media and fracture can affect the IFT of a system; however, the effect of modified IFT on fractional flow curve, relative permeability, and saturation profile was not seen.
