Abstract

Narrative and narratology are among the subjects which were studied in the field of fiction literature. It is a retelling of events and incidents that happened in a certain period of time. As well as in terms of structure, each narrative has components. Examining the structure of the narrative is through narratology. Narratology is a systematic collection to examine the structure of the narrative and the techniques in it. Therefore, providing the tools and accessories needed to describe and describe the narrative and its functions is done through narratology. Yusuf Zaydan is a contemporary Egyptian writer who works and narratives, especially his novels, have been well received. In this thesis, an attempt has been made to investigate and analyze Zidane's narrative techniques in the novel "Fardaghan, Arrest of Shaykh aL-Ra’is " using narratology. This thesis, which deals with the topics in question using the descriptive-analytical method; It includes four chapters, the first chapter: introduction and generalities of the research, the second chapter: the theoretical foundations of narrative and narratology, the third chapter: the literary life of Yusuf Zaydan, the fourth chapter: using the narrative tools and techniques that were discussed in the theoretical foundations; We have investigated and analyzed the narrative strategies of the novel "Fardghan, Ithqal al- Shaykh aL-Ra’is ". In the fifth chapter, we state the results obtained from this analysis. In the research which has been done in the novel "Fardqan, Arrest of Shaykh Al-Ra’is ", based on the theoretical foundations of the narrative and its structure based on the theory of Gérard Genet, which we discussed in the second chapter.
