Abstract

This book presents the full text of the story of Shah Esma'il and His Three Wives in prose and verse along with its audio recordings. The story is a rich treasure of narratives by Persian bards, known as bakhshis. These minstrels tell the story using Persian, Khorasani Turkish or Kormanji Kurdish prose while singing most verses in Turkish. This book provides the readers with a comparison of parts of the performance of the story recorded in 2005 with the performances recorded in the early 1970s.
