Abstract

Satire is a literary technique and also a method of verbal struggle that poets in oppressive political societies use to criticize the actions of rulers. In this article, the author has attempted to examine socio-political satire in the poems of Bakhtiari and Matar. The basis of the humor of these two poets is to criticize the chaotic conditions of Afghan and Iraqi society in order to reform and eliminate corruption, which undoubtedly has shaped the common manifestations of the humor of both painful poets. On the other hand, the goal of the humor of these two poets is not to make others laugh; rather, their humor pursues grand and valuable goals such as decolonization and corruption. Many common themes can be seen in the poems of these two poets, and this article, using a descriptive-analytical method, has addressed these common themes and the comparison of the thoughts of the two poets. As a result, it can be said that there are many similarities between the satire of Wasef Bakhtari and Ahmad Matar, including the revolutionary and transformative approach of both poets to the rulers of their era through satire, criticism of administrative corruption, criticism of colonialism, a reformist perspective, expressing the pain of the people in the form of satire, and some other similarities that are explained in detail in this article.
