Abstract
In this study, a direct and metal-free method for the synthesis of thioethers from carboxylic acids and diaryl disulfides is introduced. The reaction is carried out in the presence of morpholine and base in dimethylformamide solvent and by a radical mechanism involving decarboxylation. This process offers a new route to the preparation of aryl-alkyl thioethers with high yield, tolerance of diverse functional groups, and without the need for thiol or metal catalysts.
