Abstract

Background: pathology is a comprehensive inspection of units which is done by the administrators and managers of the organization in order to achieve goals of the organization. In pathology we are not only just looking for the effects and damage, but also we are looking for the current position according to the preset programs and policies. Sometimes it should be modified and the direction should be changed. Therefore, identifying the problems is one of the first activities which should be undertaken in organizational change. This research is applied research according to the objective and it is survey in terms of data collection. Applied researches are the researches which are seeking for answers to solve a practical problem.
Objective: The aim of this study is the pathology of performance appraisal system of Abadan refinery. The result of this study (project) can be used in order to create the spirit of unity and harmony within the organization. It can also create a strategic vision, a spirit of willingness to change, increase productivity, increase efficiency and effectiveness and develop other components that can be useful in organizational success. On the other hand, the results can be used for all organizations to advance the strategies and achieve the targets and goals.
Method: The research population included all the employees of Abadan refinery. 450 questionnaires were distributed and finally 335 questionnaires were analyzed. Sampling method is classified sampling. The analysis method is by surveying and data normalization with the Kolmogorov–Smirnov and test and T-test to check the gap between the ideal situation and current situation for analyzing the questionnaire, SPSS 20 and LISREL 8.08 were used.
Finding and conclusion: For testing the reliability, Cronbach's Alpha was used, which it was 0.82, indicating the reliability of the questionnaires. For validity, the indicators of KMO, eigenvalue and Variance were used which all of them were suitable. To fit
