Abstract
|
In this thesis, the spontaneous emission rate of an atom with definite electric dipole moment between two conducting slabs has been computed .Assuming an interaction Hamiltonian between an atom and the vacuum electric field, the Fermi Golden rule has been used to introduced in terms of the electric field correlation function an expression for the spontaneous emission rate.in this work, The correlation function is related to the imaginary part of vector potential green function by using the fluctuation dissipation theorem and Kubo formula. By calculating the vector potential green function of the system of two conducting slabs, the spontaneous emission rate at different points between the two slabs have been computed and the result have been shown. The limits of the obtained spontaneous emission rate expression for the atom in free space and in the vicinity of conducting slabs have been investigated and the consistency of the results with the previous works have been shown. In this method the spontaneous emission rate is evaluated without using the explicit form of the electric field operator, this is the most important point of this approach.
