Abstract
|
Despite the contribution of investigations in the domain of meta-discourse, further surveys are necessitate to provide thorough understanding of the rhetorical forms and distribution, type and use of meta-discourse resources due to the dynamic nature of meta-discourse in different disciplines and settings. Hyland (2004) stated that the significance of meta-discourse is found in its rhetorical dynamics which associate it to the settings in which it happens. It is related to the standard and assumption of specific cultural and disciplinary community through which the authors provide cues to accommodate the receiver’s understanding of the propositional content. Although the use of metadiscoursal markers in corpora has been investigated to a large extent, no attempt has been made to compare the abstract and conclusion sections of research articles in psychology discipline in both English and Persian contexts since 1993 to 2013. So the present study tries to bridge this gap.
