Patriotism is believed to be part of national identity and a variant of literary forms which strikingly stands out in the poems of some poets in particular when there goes a fear of foreign aggression. As a matter of fact, patriotism and preservation of national identity are the cornerstone of achieving human identity. This feature has always enjoyed special sanctity and value in every territory, and is the origin of displaying heroism, chivalry and courage in the struggle against sordid and devastating events.
Ali Mahmud Taha, an outstanding Egyptian poet, has written a lot of poems in the area of patriotism. This current descriptive-analytic research aims to analyze and evaluate the most prominent patriotic features such as: love of country, recalling past memories, revealing characters, describing places, narrating the memory of martyrs, calling for unity, condemning the rulers, Palestine, idealism as well as his style of poetry.
The findings indicate that Ali Mahmud Taha is a poet possessing high potential for poetry and imagery who has successfully displayed the concept of love for one’s country, utilizing a solid style and generating words fraught with epic, emotion as well as artistic imagery. He considered the whole Arabian territories as one united territory, appealing them earnestly to stand up firmly against the Colonialism which has exterminated their countries, and look forward to watching the dawn of freedom through their unity.
