Abstract By fall of the Sasanians and accession of the Arabs into the borders of Iran, which brought new religion, the political, social and cultural conditions of the Persian Gulf region also changed. Therefore, the aim of present study is to investigate and explain the role of Islam on the prosperity of Persian Gulf trade in the early centuries of the Islamic Period. The study is based on the assumption that because of the new religion and its attitude towards commerce and maritime commerce, Persian Gulf trade Flourished. This research is descriptive-analytic and using library resources. The verses of the Holy Quran encourage Muslims in commerce, and this has led to a change in the commerce in Iran and other Islamic lands after Islamic conquest. Therefore, the general result of the spread of Islam in the Persian Gulf region has been the growth of business activities and, consequently, the prosperity and wealth of port cities such as Basra, Siraf and Oman. In addition, trade with China, India and Africa was pursued more actively through the Persian Gulf, and the scope of international trade expanded with the expansion of the Islamic realms to distant areas.
