Abstract
|
In the first part of this study, I2-mediated selective synthesis of ?-uramino crotonic esters were
achieved via the reaction of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and urea at room temperature. Very cheap,
non-toxic and biodegradable deep eutectic solvent (DES) based on choline chloride and urea were
used as sustainable media as well as reagent at the same time in these transformations. Various
derivatives of ?-uramino crotonic esters were synthesized with good to high yields without a
tedious work-up. The process could be done to synthesize the above-mentioned compounds in
gram scale
In the second part, oxidative cross esterification of carboxylic acids with alkyl benzenes was
performed in the above-mentioned DES by the employment of tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI)
as the catalyst and tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) the oxidant at 80 °C. In this study, the green
solvent choline chloride / urea was used as a proper alternative to organic solvents previously used
in such reactions. Based on this methodology, various derivatives of benzyl esters were
synthesized with excellent yields
