Abstract

Yahya Samavi, Iraqi poet, is considered one of the most prominent figures of the resistance in Arabic contemporary literature. He defended his country in his poems, and in which he suffered from different kinds of torture and misfortune. Resistance movement has been started since Ba’si Government in Iraq. Samavi has played a very important role in defaming Sadamism’s wrong policies and weapon movement in 1991 national movement. After that, he resisted against American occupation. Using his bitter odes, he warned his nations and Iran government in terms of American’s devil policies. The present paper made an attempt, based on descriptive-analysis way, to deal with resistance concepts and also concepts such as freedom, declining rulers’ cruelness and criticisms on their policies, resisting against American occupation, condemning war and terrorism, invitation to awaking nation etc. one of the best poems of his is odes that are concerned with martyrs and oppression. Furthermore, odes which has described these heartbroken scenes are concerned with pain, hope, resistance.
