Abstract

In thepresentstudy,microstructuresandmechanicalpropertiesofafrictionstirweldedleanduplex
stainlesssteelwereexamined.Theplateswith1.5mmthicknesswereweldedataconstantrotation
speed of800rpmandweldingspeedsof50,100and150mm/minusingWC-basetool.Theresults
showedthatmicrostructuresandmechanicalpropertiesoftheleanduplexstainlesssteeljointswere
significantlyaffectedbyweldingconditions.Increasingtheweldingspeeddecreasedthepeak
temperatureandthegrainsizeofthe a and g in theweldzone,andhence,improvedhardnessvalue
and tensilestrengthofthestirzone.Tensilespecimenswerefailedfromthebasemetalatthe
retreatingside.
