Generally there are two main approaches in design of dewatering system of excavated area. In First approach, the basis of design is seepage calculation that in this case the main problem is the estimation of pumping rate which is determined from numerical or theoretical analysis. Second, selection the type of well, spacing between wells and pump size have been determined by empirical method that is base of design. In this study by assumption of steady state flow condition, theoretical and numerical analysis as well as three-dimensional numerical analysis is investigated for design wellpoints by finite element method (FEM). The distance between the wells and the distance from the excavation wall are design parameters. The theoretical and numerical results show that flow rate of wellpoints increased by increasing distance wellpoints and the excavation wall. Also, increasing distance of between wells, lead to decrease interference of wellpoints and increasing in discharge flow rate of wellpoint. Numerical and theoretical analysis have been investigated under the average permeability with constant head test.
