Abstract

In the course of urbanization and its developments, capitals are usually the origin of the innovations and variability of their time. Shiraz was not excluded from this rule during the Zandieh period, and after being selected as the capital, its urban development expanded in various spheres. Therefore, the present study aims to investigate the physical-spatial changes of Shiraz during the Zandieh period. The present paper, based on historical research method and using library data, studys the above problem. The research findings show that Shiraz city was changed during Zandieh period in accordance with spatial changes such as government, economic and health. In this process, new urban structures were constructed in Shiraz. This has led to changes in the urban context, and the contrast between the context and the old texture of the city. Physical-spatial changes did not change the skeletal structure of the city, despite its laminar transformation. However, these new structures increased the quality and quantity of the city.
