Abstract Coral reefs such as tropical forests are the most diverse ecosystems in the world and are the second richest biomass in the world after the tropical forests. The three major factors in the high coral ecosystem production are continuous flow of water, rapid rotation of nutrients, and the activity of algae. Coral reefs are important in terms of natural values, ecology, economic, cultural and tourist attraction in the world and also an indicator of the health of ecosystems. Many factors, such as human activities, natural, physical, and biologic factors. The ecosystems have been threatened by the fact that protecting these creatures from their harmful effects requires the conservation of coral reef ecosystems. This puts the role of conservation and restoration of these ecosystems in place and applies appropriate management approaches in this regard. For this reason, in most countries, these ecosystems have been introduced as marine protected areas. In this research, it is attempted to identify the coral reef destructive factors of the south of the country and in addition to expressing the values and functions of these unique islands, management solutions should be provided for the preservation, restoration and restoration of these vital ecosystems.
