Keywords Migrations of Azdies, Persian Gulf Coasts, Islamic Era.
Abstract Crossing the Persian gulf, groups of Azdi people of Oman migrated to the south coast of Iran In the early AH centuries. Examining the reports of primary sources, the present article studies the origin and time of their migration and the geography of their residences in the Iranian coasts. The study discusses why and when they migrated from Oman and in what parts of Iran settled? The Available evidence confirms the hypothesis that "the fall of Jolanda government in Oman (ca 170 AH) caused the Azdies migration to Iran during the late second century; they settled between the strait of Hormuz to the port Ganavah. Their habitats on the part of the coasts of Hormozgan , located in the distance between Hormoz strait and Siraf were first mentioned in the name of sif-e-bani safaq or bani safar, and then sif-e-amarah. Continuing the migration, the areas between siraf and ganaveh , much of the coast of bushehr province, were housing groups of immigrants. These coasts were divided into two separate zones, both under the influence of branches of the Jolanda family: Bani Zoheir inhabited between Siraf and Najiram; Al-e-Mozaffar inhabited between Najiram and Ganavah. This research was done by historical method; information was gathered by a combination of library and oral research techniques; then data was analyzed and interpreted.
