Abstract
|
This study examines solitary waves like a tsunami and affects waves impinging and overtopping on impermeable trapezoidal seawall on a 1:20 sloping coast. The experiments are designed to explain three modes: 1-Turbulence with sudden pressure inside front wall
boundary, consequently wall impact and overflow 2-The wave breaks directly on the wall and then generates the overtopping flow
3-A wave passing through the breakwater crest and breaking it behind the beach wall A two-dimensional volume of fluid (VOF) type model. which is based on the ReynoldsAveraged Navier–Stokes (RANS) equations and the k–? turbulence closure solver, is validated by experimental data and then applied to investigate wave dynamics for which laboratory data are unavailable. Additionally, A set of numerical experiments to investigate the predicted impact force that considers the dynamic behavior of a wave due to impacting
the caisson.
