Abstract Inhabitants of south Iran, especially Bandar-e-Bushehr have had large-scale emigrations to Persian Gulf sheikhdoms in the Twentieth Century due to their close relations with them and the economic and industrial development of these sheikhdoms. One of these sheikhdoms hosting Iranian migrants and having political, cultural and economic ties with Iran is Bahrain. In each era, based on the political, social, economic and cultural conditions and the differences between the institutions and structures of Iran and Bahrain specific ties have been formed. Iran’s social and political conditions and the whispers of Bahrain’s separation from Iran were the determining factors in this respect. In the early Nineteenth Century, Iran’s political and social relations with southern coasts of the Persian Gulf, especially Bahrain came under the strict control of the English, and consequently, with the English support Bahrain became fully independent from Iran in 1971. The main point here is the origin and causes of the expansion of political and economic relations and migration from Bushehr to Bahrain and vice versa. Keywords: Bushehr, Bahrain, political and social relations, Persian Gulf
