Abstract

Novel benzimidazole derivatives are synthesized by the reaction of 2-substituted 1,3-bis(dimethylamino)-
trimethinium salts with 2-aminobenzimidazole in the presence of acetic acid or triethylamine
in acetonitrile as the solvent. The ultraviolet spectral behavior of these compounds is examined in DMSO.
