Abstract
An analytical equation of state, developed for water [C. A. Jeffery and P. H. Austin, J. Chem. Phys. 110 (1999) 484–496] is modified and utilized for water and some aliphatic alcohols. The law of corresponding states is used to calculate the temperature-dependant parameter of the equation of state. The critical constants are used as scaling factors in the developed law of corresponding state. Just one adjustable parameter exists in the equation of state. The application of the proposed equation of state to water and thirteen alcohols from methanol to decanol shows that the predicted densities of afore-cited polarfluids, over a range of temperatures and pressures, are well comparable with experimental data.
