Abstract
Ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([bmim]Br) efficiently accelerates Michael addition of pyrimidine and purine nucleobases to α,β-unsaturated esters in the presence of catalytic amount of Cs2CO3 under microwave irradiation to give carboacyclic nucleosides in good to high yields and short reaction times.
