Abstract

Kazerun Fault is one of the most important lineament with the trend of N-S in the Zagros sedimentary basin. This basement fault effects on all of the sedimentary column placed on the metamorphic basement which starts with Cambrian salt Hormuz series. The Kazerun fault zone controls the sedimentation and the structure of the central Zagros basin. This paper reviews the relation between this fault and structural features of the Dashtestan and Dashti regions with a geomorphological view using geological surveys, field observations and library studies. Surface observations showed the curvature in the axis of the important anticlines of this region that were affected by the Kazerun fault. This evidence, along with the existence of salt domes, as well as fractures and joint systems, confirms the same effect of Kazerun fault on the geology of region’s anticlines and its continuity over the studied area.
