Abstract
Improving speaking ability of the students has always been a challenge to the teachers.
They can use new methods to teach speaking and at the same time motivates learners to talk
more in the class. The present study looks into the effect of PowerPoint-Enhanced teaching
on Iranian EFL learners’ oral production.; and also seeks to find out the role of gender in the
effectiveness of PowerPoint-enhanced teaching. Accordingly, after taking an OPT test,
(N=60) intermediate male and female learners were selected as participants. They were
divided in experimental and control group evenly. A pre-test and post-test of speaking was
used to measure the speaking ability of the participants before and after the treatment
PowerPoint-enhanced teaching was the medium of instruction of the experimental group
while in the control group the teacher used traditional method of teaching. For the data
analysis T-test and ANOVA of gender difference were used. The results showed that
although both groups had improved their oral ability over time but the experimental group
had more speaking improvement than the control group after the treatment. Data analysis
indicated that there was no significant difference between the different genders in the study
