Anything of the written works of ancient Iran for the future can be found in the from of scattered material in a number of historical sources of the third century written in Arabic. Ibn Qutaybah al-Dinawaris has quoted many of these valuable materials that depict the rituals and customs of the life of the ancient Iranians in Ayoun al-Akhbar.
In addition, he has briefly mentioned the history of the kings of Iran in his Al-maaref. In this treatise, an attempt is made to study the evidences of Iranian scientific wisdom and its types in the book of Ayoun Al-Akhbar by a descriptive-historical-analytical method, and then by examining the image of Iranian king's through the anecdotes and advices of Ibn Qutaybah. Ibn Qutaybah has also mentioned about 50 Persian words in Ayoun al-Akhbar.
