Background: The family is the major and original source of their members' basic personal and social identity. The core of a family is husband and wife and the health of the community depends on the health of the family. Couples are confronted with many conflicting factors in their lives, including interpersonal problems and Alexithymia. the family's mental health can be increased through various training. One of the most important trainings is to teach marital life skills, it reduces the severity of couples’ conflicts by reducing interpersonal problems and Alexithymia.
Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of marital skills training through virtual social networks (WhatsApp) on interpersonal problems and Alexithymia in couples with interpersonal problems and Alexithymia in Bushehr city.
Methodology :The research population of couples with interpersonal problems and Alexithymia was in Bushehr city. In this study, before marital skills’ training, the intended couples had completed interpersonal problems and Alexithymia questionnaires. The sampling method for this study was available.
Results: The results of this study showed that marital skills training through virtual social networks (WhatsApp) significantly reduced the interpersonal problems and Alexithymia between the couples in the experimental group compared to the control group.
Conclusions: learning marital skills through the virtual social network (WhatsApp) leads to an increase in the exchange of positive and joyful behaviours and the reduction of negative behaviours, and this exchange rate reduces interpersonal and emotional difficulties and satisfies the emotional needs of couples and brings happier lives. The results of this study can be used to treat individuals and couples with interpersonal problems and Alexithymia.
