Along with the development of mobile communications technology , the use of messenger software has greatly expanded in recent years. Meanwhile, a considerable portion of shared messages in these networks have historical content. The present study examines the effect of exchange of historical content of messenger programs on users ' historical knowledge. This research is qualitative and data were collected through interviews and using questionnaire. The sample population included a number of students of Bushehr University of Medical Sciences, Persian Gulf University and high school students in Bushehr. These messages can be classified into four categories: history of ancient Persia , the history of Islam , Islamic Iran history and the history of the world. These messages are mostly political criticism, social criticism, historical events and moral lessons .
The results show that the perceived historical content has influenced the historical knowledge of users: 1. Quantity of information is increasing 2. Content of each of the messages is more subtle and inductive, in order to be impartial and persuasive 3. Opposing messages initially led to the confusion of ideas, but in general and in the long term, curiosity has helped more real understanding of problems .
