Self-efficacy as one of the most important factors in the field of education includes students' beliefs about their academic ability. These beliefs play an important role in the process of motivation and learning and cause students’ success and prevention at school. This study aims at investigating the antecedents and consequences of self-efficacy in the ninth grade students. This study was conducted using correlational method by structural equations model. The study population consisted of all students in public schools of Salmas city in the 94-95 academic years. 308 of them were selected by multistage cluster sampling and participated in this study. To analyze the data, correlation and path analysis using structural equations model was applied. The results showed that in the modified model, the paths of self-regulated learning strategies to self-efficacy, emotional intelligence to creativity and self-efficacy were significant. Also, the paths of self-efficacy to achievement motivation and self-efficacy to academic achievement were significant. The results of structural equations model indicated the fitness of research’s supposed model. So, teachers and educational managers should have special attention to students' self-efficacy beliefs for progress in their teaching and learning process and also emphasize on the necessity of enhancing creative thinking in the classroom environment, to not only increase students' self-efficacy beliefs, also improve their motivation and positive attitudes towards education.
