Abstract

Water recirculation is quantified by estimating the recirculation time parameter in semi-closed water bodies such as Khor Bushehr (in order to check oxygen production and also remove pollution inside these water bodies). Bushehr estuary is one of the most important semi-closed bodies of water in the south of Iran. It is located in relation to the Greenwich meridian. Bushehr Bay is a small bay on the northern edge of the Persian Gulf in front of Bushehr city in Bushehr province. It has two entrances and exits. The strategic location of this water area, the presence of very important nuclear facilities, and important and busy transit ports have caused a high potential for environmental pollution in it. The open time of water circulation in this basin is a very influential parameter in order to reduce this environmental pollution potential. Therefore, in this research, this very important parameter is calculated based on numerical modeling. In this research, the powerful and reliable Mike21 numerical model has been used, which provides acceptable and relatively accurate results even in the absence of accurate measurement data, and is currently the most widely used software among consulting engineering companies. However, the quality assurance of any modeling is based on the measurement data, and therefore the existence of measured data such as hydrodynamic data and concentration distribution can add to the richness of this research. In order to estimate recirculation for each water body, it is enough to estimate two parameters of volume and flow rate of input and output (mass view) or to estimate the amount of time required to reach 63% of fresh water (wide view) in the system, which is the main approach This is research. The main result of the current research is determining the turnaround time for Khor Bushehr, which is estimated to be 20 days based on the mass approach and 60 days based on the broad approach. It is worth mentioning that the turnaround time for diffe
