In order to evaluate the effect of two substerate including Coco peat and date peat and sprying of three chemical growth retardants including Paclobotrazol(20 and 40 mg/l), Daminozide ( 1 and 2 per thousands), Folicur ( 0.5 and 1 per thousands ) and control treatment ( distilled water ) one time sprying ( 4-folded leaves stage ) and twice sprying ( 4 and 6 folded leaves stages ) during tomato transplant growth period,an experiment was conducted using CRD with three replicates.
After 40 days, transplant height and diameter, leaf area, fresh and dry weight of shoot and root, internode length, chlorophyll index, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophyll , N, P, K content of transplant shoot were measured. Results showed that highest stem diameter in date peat with one time sprying of Paclobotrazol 40 mg/l, highest height and highest fresh and dry matter of shoot in control Coco peat, highest root fresh and dry weight in Coco peat with twice sprying of 1 per 1000 of Daminozide were obtained.Highest internode length and leaf area in control Coco peat, highest chlorophyll index in Coco peat with twice sprying of Paclobotrazol ( 40 mg/l ), highest chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and total chlorophyll in date peat with twice sprying of Folicur 1 per 1000 were obtained. Highest content of shoot P in date peat treatment with twice sprying of Paclobotrazol( 20 mg/l ), highest amount of shoot K in Coco peat substerate with twice sprying of Daminozide 2 per 1000 and highest amount of shoot Nitrogen in date peat treatment with one time sprying of Daminozide 2 per 1000 were obtained. Group comparison between Coco peat and Date peat substrates showd that no significant differeaces were seen between shoot dry weight, root fresh weight, internode length, chlorophyll index, transplant diameter and shoot p content. But in shoot fresh weight, root dry weight and leaf area, significant differences were seen in Coco peat and Date peat substrates. In other traits Date peat was better th
