Abstract

Background: Synthesis of type-A zeolites, Synthesis of NiCo2O4 nanospinels with different morphologies and preparation of 4A-zeolite supported NiCo2O4. Aim: Synthesis of type-A zeolites by plant fibers as source of low-cost silica for application in electrochemical oxidation of Methanol and the removal of heavy metal ions from industrial wastewater. Methodology: Library and theoretical study of the subject, Synthesis of type-A zeolites by plant fibers, Synthesis different morphologies of NiCo2O4 nanospinels using metal salts, Materials characterization by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and FT-IR techniques, Study of properties of 4A zeolite, NiCo2O4 and NiCo2O4@zeolite-4A nanocomposite in electro-catalytic reactions, Ion exchange capacity studies on zeolites with Lead, Zinc, Nickel and Cadmium cations, data collection and data analysis. Conclusions: NiCo2O4@zeolite-4A electrodes exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity for oxidation of methanol in alkaline medium. Also, the results of current study indicated that zeolite can be considered as an efficient, cost effective and economically feasible adsorbent for removal of heavy metals from industrial wastewater.
