In the first part of this study, the formation of carbon – sulfur bonds from the reaction of maleic anhydride and thiols in the presence of triphenylphosphine as the catalyst is described .
Next, in this system, diaryl disulfides were used instead of thiols and their reaction with maleic anhydride and triphenylphosphine was studied.
In the last part, the synthesis of thioesters were investigated by the reaction of benzoyl chloride and diaryl disulfides using triphenylphosphine.
