چکیده

Corrosion as a natural phenomenon occurs in silence and often subtle. In this chemical reaction, the metal changes to its more stable stat, such as, oxide, hydroxide or sulfide. Thus, corrosion may be the biggest cause of deterioration and loss of quality in man-made structures, the effects of this process and the resulting products causing severe economic damage, which is usually the case in developed countries for the first time in the country. At the top of this ranking is about 2 percent of GDP. In this study, the effect of adding montmorillonite nanoclay to epoxy based paint to improve the anti-corrosion properties of the paint was investigated. For this purpose, the delay and reduction of corrosion rate and degradation were experimentally controlled and measured using epoxy-based paint coating with and without nano-clay on carbon steel ST12 in sodium chloride salt corrosive medium. The rate of corrosion protection of the coating was investigated in 3.5% sodium chloride solution. The results show that the epoxy based coating with 2% nano-clay-montmorillonite K10 shows better efficiency in delay and reduced corrosion process compared to other coating states. Evaluation of effective factors such as dye resistance to permeation on 2% nano-modified epoxy based coating was investigated using electrochemical impedance and tafel polarization techniques. The amount of adhesion as well as the rate of resistance to rapid deformation were also tested in 2% nano-modified color sample and the results were quite acceptable. The polarization curves and the nyquist and bode phase plot were used to obtain the electrochemical parameters and the results showed that the base epoxy coating formulation containing 2% nanoclay had the best effect on the protection and delay for ST12 carbon steel surface corrosion in sodium chloride solution 3.5%.
