One of the common problems of today‘s families is lack of parental structure.
Given the weakness of families in controlling their relationships with adolescents,
parental structure training is of the utmost important.
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of parental structure
training on improving cognitive needs and parent-adolescent interaction and
reducing risky behaviors by controlling gender and negative events of parental
life.
The statistical population of this study includes all high school students
(secondary education -1
st stage) in Booshehr in the school year 2019-2020. The
study was a quasi-experimental study with pretest and posttest design with control
group. To this purpose, 30 parents of students were selected from schools of
Booshehr based on the cluster method. They devided randomly into two 30-
pepple groups including an experimental 15- people group and a control 15-
people proup. The experimental group received parental structure training during
four two-hour sessions. The experimental group received parental structure
training during four two-hour sessions.
In this study ,the basic physiological needs questionnaire (Jonson & Fini, 2012)
parent –adolescent interaction questionnaire (Fine, Moorland & Shevil , 1983),
were completed by adolescents and the behavioural problems questionnaire (
Carners, 1990), questionnaire for negative experiences of parental life (Sarason,
Jonson & Sigol, 1978) were administrated by parents. To consider of hypothesis of
research were used Multivariate covariance.
Findings from the covariance indicated that psychological needs (relevance),
increased significantly, but competence and self-determination did not increase
significantly. In adolescent – parent interaction ( identification and conversation)
increased significantly, Annoyance decreased significantly but Positive affect did
not significantly. high risk behaviors (social problems, psychosomatic problems)
showed a significant decrease
