Abstract. Some feeding aspects of Nemipterus japonicus (Bloch, 1791), in coastal waters of Persian Gulf (Bushehr Province), were studied from September 2012 to February 2013 by regular monthly collections. A total of 185 specimens, including 23 males and 162 females were collected. Mean length for females was 27.60 and for males was 27.33 cm. Mean weight of females and males was 162.41 and 169.15g, respectively. The gut content consisted mostly of fish species and the relative length of gut (RLG) was 0.87, on average. The maximum calculated gastro somatic index occurred in September and the minimum in February. Among the 185 studied fishes, 87 fishes had empty and 107 full stomachs. On the basis of the food composition in full stomachs, fish, crabs, shrimp, polychaete, octopus and lobster were abundant groups.
