Leucanner was described after examining eleven children who he thought were completely different from other children in terms of the disorder. According to Connor, the main feature of this disorder is the inability of affected children to communicate with others from birth and to avoid them and loneliness. To describe this intense loneliness, Connor used the term autism, which means not being absorbed in mental activity.
