Background: In the management of service organizations, improving the performance of staff is an important issue and understanding the main factors affecting the performance of staff is essential for managers and researchers. Bushehr port is among service organizations. Searching for ways to improve performance and utilize maximum capabilities and ultimately increase staff's efficiency to achieve organizational goals has been one of the constant issues and concerns of Bushehr Port managers.
Aim: Evaluating and prioritizing the factors affecting staff performance in Bushehr Ports and Maritime Authority.
Methodology: The present research is from the perspective of type, applied research, from the perspective of paradigm, positivism, from the perspective of research approach, deductive, from the perspective of research strategy, survey strategy and from the perspective of purpose, descriptive. In this study, first, the primary factors affecting staff performance were identified using the conceptual model presented by Diamantidis and Chatzoglou (2019). Next, by forming a focus group (5 experts from Bushehr ports and maritime authority), all the factors affecting staff performance of Bushehr Ports and Maritime Authority were identified. These factors were designed in the form of a hierarchical questionnaire and were answered by 15 senior experts of Bushehr Ports and Maritime Authority and university professors. Hierarchical technique was used for prioritization.
Findings: Six organization-related indicators, four job-related indicators and six staff-related indicators are effective on the performance of the staff of Bushehr Ports and Maritime Authority. Based on the results of hierarchical technique, in the organization-related group, management support, in the job-related group, job autonomy and in the staff-related group, internal motivation were identified as the most important factors affecting the performance of the staff of Bushehr Ports and Maritime Authority.
