Abstract
Background and objectives: Bonus is one of the key management strategies that plays a significant role in creating and developing motivated and committed workforce in any organization. Therefore, the aim of the current research is to investigate the effect of the received bonus on the mental health and motivation of employees, emphasizing the moderating role of perceived distributive justice. Method: In terms of its objectives this study is of applied research type, comparative approach, and in terms of method descriptive-correlation. The statistical population of the research is 310 staff and judicial staff of Bushehr Justice Department. The samples were selected using simple random sampling method. Data collection tools were Sigrest et al.'s reward questionnaire (2014), Herzberg motivation questionnaire (1997), Keys et al. employee mental health questionnaire (2008), and Calkit distributive justice questionnaire (2001). The data were analyzed using the structural equation method using SPSS and SmartPLS software. Findings: The findings of the research showed that the bonus received has a positive and significant effect on the mental health and motivation of employees. Employee's motivation has a positive and significant effect on their mental health. Also, perceived distributive justice does not have a significant moderating role in the relationship between bonus received and employees' motivation, and does not have a significant moderating role in the relationship between bonus received and employees' mental health. Results: Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the bonus received has a great effect on improving the motivation and mental health of employees. The managers of the organizations and especially the justice department of Bushehr city should pay special attention to the fairness of the bonuses paid to the employees. It is worth mentioning that the present research is the first step towards testing the conceptual model consisting of four researc
