Background: The Increasing importance of knowledge in organizations and its impact on various aspects such as performance, is caused the creating a mountain of information in organizations that need to be integrated to increase the efficiency of using them. The use of information systems can be order and integrate information. Therefore the use of information systems and knowledge management simultaneously can improve organizational performance.
Aim: To invest the combination of knowledge management and enterprise resource planning and its impact on the operational performance of the organization.
Methodology: First, the theoretical literature is reviewed to identify the most effective indicators to measure the implementation of enterprise resource planning systems, knowledge management, and performance. Because certain criteria to measure implementation of enterprise resource planning didn't introduce in the theoretical literature, the parameters extracted from the literature were categorized using exploratory factor analysis. Then, questionnaires were prepared based on the theoretical literature review and factor analysis and distributed at Shiraz University as case study. And then the questionnaires were collected and were analyzed and was tested the conceptual model by using Amos.
Findings: The findings of this study was to identify indicators for evaluating enterprise resource planning that are categorized including change and project management factor, integration and development of the ERP factor, human resources factor, management factor and non-functional requirements factor. Knowledge management indicators can also Considered in 5 factors including Acquisition, creation, dissemination, storage, and use of knowledge. Also the results showed that the effect of combining the knowledge management and enterprise resource planning is significant on the research and educational performance at Shiraz University.
