In this study, modification of montmorillonite using glucose was investigated. The adsorbent characterized by different techniques analysis e.g. SEM, FTIR, BET and XRD and then employed for adsorption of lead from aqueous solution. The results showed that modified montmorillonite improved the adsorption capacity of pb(II) from aqueous solution in a batch system.
Afterwards the effect of different parameters like pH (2-7) of solution, adsorbent dosage(0.03-0.5 g) , contact time(5-180 min), initial metal ion concentration (30-300 mg/L) and temperature
(25-45 °C) of the adsorption process were studied .Adsorption optimum condition obtained for pb(II) pH 5-temprature …..°C- adsorbent dosage 0.3 g -initial metal concentration 150 mg/g . The results indicated that the adsorption is strongly dependent on pH. Kinetic data showed that the adsorption process achieved equilibrium within 180 min and experimental were fitted well by the pseudo first order model. The equilibrium data correlated with Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin-Radushkevich (D-R) and Temkin isotherm models. Maximum adsorption capacity for pb(II) was found to be…mg g-1.
