Advanced and facile synthesis and structural optimization of nanostructured Sr-doped SAPO-34 zeolite: Application in developing high-performance electrochemical supercapacitor

The growing energy demand and the need for rapid energy storage pose significant challenges, making super capacitors well-suited for such applications due to their high-power density and long cycle life. In this study, a Sr- doped silicoaluminophosphate (SAPO-34) zeolite nanostructure has been applied to modify electrodes and improve supercapacitor performance. The structure and morphological characterization of the synthesized compounds were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area anal ysis, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Electrochemical evaluation of the synthesized Sr-doped SAPO-34 zeolite nanostructure was performed using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge/discharge (GCD) to investigate its electrochemical behavior for energy storage applications. The synthesized Sr/SAPO-34 showed enhanced electrochemical performance. This sample showed a specific capacitance of 424 F/g. The corre sponding energy and power density were 18.7438 Wh/kg and 225 W/kg, respectively, at a current density of 0.001 mA/g. The Sr/SAPO-34 sample showed good stability in the charge/discharge cycle experiments. Even after 5000 cycles, its capacitance proved to be stable by maintaining 86.79% of the initial value. These findings demonstrated the potential of Sr/SAPO-34 as a promising material for energy storage technologies.
